Your cookie choice
Optional Google Analytics helps us understand which pages people use and whether the planner is useful. It loads only after you choose “Allow analytics”. Declining does not affect the journal or planner. Your preference is saved in this browser for six months.
Analytics
When enabled, Analytics receives page views and general usage events, along with browser and device information. We do not send it accommodation names or addresses, map coordinates, travel dates, search text or your itinerary. Advertising features are disabled. Google processes analytics data according to its Privacy Policy. You can withdraw consent using Cookie settings; this stops future collection and clears this website’s Analytics cookies.
Planning a journey
Your draft is stored in your browser’s session storage. Searching for a hotel or restaurant sends the search text and a regional location to our AWS service and Amazon Location Service. Calculating roads sends the selected locations to that service. These details are needed to return search results and driving routes. PDF maps are generated in your browser.
The routing service does not log request bodies or save itineraries. It uses a hashed IP address for daily usage limits; the counters are scheduled to expire after two days. Operational Lambda logs are retained for seven days. Infrastructure providers also process connection information to deliver and protect the service.
Planner protection
When you search for a place or calculate a route, Google reCAPTCHA v3 helps protect the planner from automated abuse. It processes browser and interaction information and sets a security cookie. It is separate from optional Analytics and is required for these planner requests. The journal itself can be browsed without this check. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Maps and other services
Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, and fonts from Google Fonts. Like other external resources, these services receive connection information such as your IP address when your browser requests their content. Wine-farm links take you to independently operated websites.
